University Transition Program
This is a supportive academic pathway designed to help students make a strong and confident start to university life. It offers a customized curriculum to build a solid foundation for your academic success.
Students with a lower cumulative GPA may still be considered for admission through the University Transition Program. Students admitted through this program receive conditional admission, and continued enrollment in future semesters is dependent upon meeting to the following criteria:
- Contact Academic Commons – Learning Foundations
- Contact Academic Commons – Learning Foundations during the first week of the semester (or earlier if possible) to complete the University Transition Program requirements. Academic Commons – Learning Foundations is an office dedicated to giving students the tools for academic success.

- Enroll in Student Development (STDEV) 101R
- Sign up for a University Transition Program section of STDEV 101R taught by instructors from the Center for Academic Success.
- If you have questions, contact the Center for Academic Success at academicsuccess@go.byuh.edu or (808) 675-4543.
- Register for minimum credit requirement for selected semester
- Enroll in other classes to meet the minimum credit requirement for the semester.
- Choose courses that match your Holokai Plan (the “one major and two minors” academic plan).
- If you need help choosing classes, contact your Academic Advisor at advising@byuh.edu.
- Maintain Academic Progress
- Earn a 2.00 or higher GPA during your transition semester so you can stay in good standing and continue in the program.
Students who successfully meet these requirements will continue as full time students. Students who do not meet these standards will not be eligible to continue into the next semester.
