Domestic Transfer Student Transcripts
Domestic students are individuals who have permanent residency in the United States. A transfer applicant is an applicant who has completed 24 credits or 36 quarter hours of concurrent course work at a college or university other than BYU–Hawaii following high school graduation.
Official transcripts are required for domestic transfer applicants to show their completion of high school and that they meet the required cumulative grade point average.
High School Transcripts
Applicants who have completed less than 24 credits at a college or university must submit their high school transcripts. They are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Applicants who have completed more than 24 credits at a college or university do not need to submit their high school transcripts.
Homeschool or GED
Those who complete their secondary education through the General Education Development Test (GED), home study, home school, or other programs will be reviewed individually by the admissions committee to determine admissibility. Transcripts for any official high school or college classes taken must also be submitted.
Students who were homeschooled should follow instructions found on the Admission Requirements for Home Schooled Students page.
College Transcripts
Applicants must submit transcripts for each college or university that they attended. Earned credits should be reported on the application and will be verified with the most recent transcript Admissions has on file. Classes in progress that will finish after the application deadline should not be reported.
If admitted, transfer students should send an updated transcript in order to receive credits for classes that were in progress during the application process. No transcript, no credit.
Associates Degrees
Students who transfer with an associate degree from an accredited college or university, not including an Associate of Applied Science, will be required to complete:
- A major.
- The four CORE religion courses and residency religion requirements.
- Advanced Writing - English 315.
Students with an Associate of Applied Science must complete the full Holokai program. Review the Transfer Evaluation Guidelines and Matrix to see which classes can be transferred to BYU–Hawaii.
Sending Transcripts
Official transcripts must be sent through Parchment Exchange, National Student Clearing House, or a sealed letter directly from the school's registrar mailed to BYU–Hawaii Admissions. Letters delivered by hand are accepted if the letter is still sealed by the school. Any transcripts emailed will NOT be accepted.
Transcripts sent by email will not be accepted.
All transcripts and documents must be received two weeks before the application deadline of the desired semester. Failure to follow instructions may result in a delay in your application, including the inability to apply for the desired semester.
