Mission Deferment (Incoming or New Students)

Students who have not attended or earned credits and wish to defer their admittance to serve a mission will need to complete a mission deferment. Admissions manages the listing of deferred students on a mission.

Deferring Your Enrollment for a Mission

Complete online form
Once admitted, you will receive an email titled "BYU–Hawaii Intent to Enroll" (ITE) with instructions to confirm your acceptance.

How to Defer Your Enrollment:
  1. Open the ITE email and select "Defer".
  2. Provide the required missionary information.
  3. Click "Submit" to finalize your mission deferment.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email once your deferment request is officially processed.
Important:
  1. The deadline to submit your mission deferment is the last day of the semester in which you were admitted.
  2. Requests submitted after this deadline will not be valid.
If You Accepted Your Intent to Enroll and Need to Defer for a Mission
  1. Complete the Cancellation of Admittance form AND the Mission Deferment form.
  2. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email verifying your deferment.
