Brigham Young University-Hawaii plays a unique role and mission in furthering the education of people in the Pacific Basin, which includes Hawaii, Asian Rim countries and South Pacific islands and nations.
"We have a specific role to play in educating the people in these target areas, and preparing a group of students who I believe will be called upon to assist in opening doors in countries not now opened, and taking forth the gospel message"
- Alton L. Wade - Former BYU-Hawaii President 1986-1994
President David O. McKay further elaborated upon this role when he prophetically stated;
“...from this school, I’ll tell you, will go men and women whose influence will be felt for good towards the establishment of peace internationally.”
